Pipe systems are bound to come across or develop issues over time. Luckily, there are various ways to restore a damaged pipe. One such method is trenchless pipe lining, an alternative to the traditional dig-and-replace technique. Trenchless pipe repair solutions have been around for decades, slowly but surely becoming the preferred method of pipe rehabilitation due to its conduciveness.
Bob Oates Sewer & Rooter is an authority on trenchless sewer repair in Seattle, WA, and we’ve been helping countless homes and businesses with their pipe-related problems for over 20 years now. We would not be able to do so without trenchless technology.
Trenchless Pipe Lining History
The earliest instance of trenchless pipe repair was done in the UK in 1971 by an agricultural engineer named Eric Wood. The story goes that there was a 230 ft. leaky air duct above rows of mushroom beds at a mushroom farm that needed to be fixed, and Eric Wood’s expertise is exactly what was needed. A resin-saturated felt tube was wrapped in a plastic and dragged through the problematic duct.
The next step was to inflate the resin tube with air and leave it to cure or harden. The rest, as they say, is history. Thus, the trenchless industry was born. Decades later, this process will be further refined, but will otherwise be the standard when it comes to performing no-dig pipe restorations such as trenchless sewer replacement projects.
Trenchless Pipe Lining Today
Trenchless pipe lining is steadily becoming the preferred method of pipe restoration nowadays. This is because even supposedly intensive processes like a complete trenchless pipe replacement can be done in as little as a day, with a smaller crew, and very minimal disruption to your landscaping or your schedule.
