It’s the time of year to be merry, but also a time when those distant relatives seemingly take over your home for a few days. Considering you’ll be hosting more people in your home than usual, higher traffic to the bathroom and kitchen is likely, and can cause some issues if you aren’t prepared. That’s why it’s no surprise that the holiday season is good business for us here at Bob Oates.
Our team wants to help prevent those holiday disasters, so you can stay focused on your loved ones and special memories, instead of panicking while the toilet or sink is overflowing.
With that said, be sure to follow these simple tips so you can direct your full attention to your loved ones, and the delectable holiday ham.
Tip #1
Single-Ply is your ally.
Get ahead of the whirlwind by stocking up your bathrooms with single-ply toilet paper. While quilted or thicker plies may please your great aunt, we consider it good for business. Save yourself the headache, and go the simple route. Trust us.
Tip #2
Tis The Season For Drain Catchers
Let’s face it.. Your bathroom and kitchen’s sink, and shower drains will see a lot of traffic from the family over the holidays. Go ahead and arm yourself with drain catchers to prevent any unnecessary hair or food scraps from building up and backing up your pipes.
Tip #3
Only Santa’s Helpers Should Be Allowed in The Kitchen
Minimizing the amount of traffic in your kitchen could help reduce the risk of your nephew or niece innocently dumping a plate of food down your sink, or even keep your mother in-law trying to help clean up dishes, without thinking about what is suitable to go down your garbage disposal. Keep it simple, and get a clean-up process down so you know what’s going down your sink and garbage disposal. Remember, the only thing that should be scraped into your garbage disposal are scraps from the plate – nothing else!
Another great way to prevent the opposite of a Christmas miracle from happening is to sharpen your garbage disposal’s blades in advance by throwing a few ice cubes into it and letting it run for a few seconds. No need to write us a thank you note for that one.
Tip #4
Make a list, and check it twice.
Be sure to take inventory of all of your plumbing fixtures ahead of the holiday whirlwind. It may even be worth a quick check-up or service call from one of our professionals to make sure your pipes and drains are clear of any minor blockages before they see far more traffic than usual
If you follow these tips, you’re in for a merry holiday. But, if something does go awry, be sure to give our team a call. We’re happy to help keep the festivities going and more importantly, keeping your family members happy.
From our family to yours, we wish you a very happy holiday season.
