While plumbing emergencies are not as uncommon as many would think, it doesn’t make them any less panic-inducing. The good news is that you’re not entirely helpless should you find yourself in an emergency plumbing situation. Bob Oates Sewer & Rooter lists a few things you can do in case of a plumbing emergency.
Shut Off the Main Water Supply
If a water pipe has burst, the first thing you should do is to shut off the main water supply. This way, you can prevent further damage and avoid flooding. Your plumbing company should be able to tell you where else you could find the shut off valve, but the most common location at which main water valves are located is in the basement or a utility closet.
Call a Plumber
Get in touch with your trusted plumber in Seattle, WA after making sure the shut off valve has been secured. Many of the damages resulting from burst pipes are more severe than we think and might create more frequent problems later, so it’s important to get a trained professional onboard to address the problem at hand and any other issues that might arise.
Turn Off the Gas Supply
You need to do this when the issue has something to do with your gas-powered water heater. Your plumbing services provider should be able to tell you how to do this step safely during the installation or subsequent maintenance visits.
Clean What You Can
Mop up any spills or place a bucket under any leaking pipes while you wait for our plumbing repairs team. This will help us be able to get straight to work and resolve the issue more efficiently. Rest assured that we will work as best as we can without causing a bigger mess.
Contact Bob Oates Sewer & Rooter for all of your plumbing needs and concerns.
